1946年冬，人民解放军派出一支剿匪分队，在团参谋长少剑波带领下，深入土匪出没的林区，发动群众实行土改，同时打击盘距在深山里的土匪。一天，小分队在河神庙发现匪徒一撮毛的踪迹，设巧计活捉了他，从他身上搜出一张先遣图，通过审讯得知，匪首座山雕要在大年三十晚上摆百鸡宴为自己庆寿。经研究决定，派侦察英雄杨子荣化装成土匪胡彪深入虎穴，将来配合小分队里应外合智取威虎山。杨子荣上山后，座山雕并不信任他，经过三番五次较量，最后又献上先遣图，这才打消座山雕的疑虑，他封杨子荣为上校团副和百鸡宴的大总管。杨子荣利用这有利身份对威虎山的军事布署做了全面侦察了解，并巧妙地将情报送了出去。万事俱备，只欠东风......。The dream of sending humans to Mars is closer than ever before.
